| General Camp Information |
|
|
Camp Tomahawk is supported by the United Church of God,
an International Association. The mission of Camp Tomahawk is drawn directly
from the overall mission statement for all UCG
camps , "to support parents and the Church in teaching youth to
develop their potential while learning that God’s values are practical and
work."
While there are a wide variety of activities, our focus remains on developing
Godly values in our youth. For three days children are able to learn, socialize
and have fun in a positive Christ centered environment.
Exciting features of Camp Tomahawk include such activities as Christian Living,
swimming, sports, arts and crafts and much more. We also take pride in our
themed dinners featuring some of the best camp food ever offered!
The camp is a multiple day, resident camp, located at Nathan Bedford Forrest
State Park. Campers will stay in the air conditioned group lodge with several
selected counselors, while the remainder of the workers will be housed at night
in the staff worker cabins exactly 1 mile from the group lodge. All bathrooms
are attached to the buildings and no one will have to walk to an outside
bathroom or bath house.
Camp Tomahawk is divided into two age groups: (Ages 6-8) and (Ages 9 - 12). The
purpose/goal of the camp is as follows:
-
To provide children an opportunity to experience a camp atmosphere in a
sheltered environment.
-
To enrich children's relationship with God and with Christian youth and
families.
-
To give everyone opportunities to experience new activities and events.
-
To build life long friendships and connections that can be resumed when they
see one another at future church events.
-
To give the adults the chance to serve and develop the Church leaders of
tomorrow.
