| Frequently Asked Questions |
|
| Do I have to fill out an application for all family members? |
|
Yes. Each family member wishing to apply should submit an application (camper or
worker). Once you have heard whether or not you have been accepted, several
more forms will be mailed which will also need to be completed prior to camp.
Please refer to either Camper or Staff sections for a complete list of these
forms. Applications should be returned to: Mike Fooshe
|
| When is the deadline? |
| Applications must be postmarked no later than May 1st to
receive the $10 per applicant discount. Applications postmarked after May 1st
will only be considered for positions that remain open.
|
| What about financial aid? |
|
Some financial aid will be available on a limited basis. If you would like to
apply for financial aid or scholarships, there will be a form to fill out in
detail and mail. There is no guarantee financial aid can be granted, so start
saving and planning now if you wish to attend.
Financial aid forms should be downloaded and submitted with your application or
if you prefer the forms can obtained by contacting Mike
Fooshe.

| Is this a local camp or regional camp? And what age group is
this camp for? |
|
This camp is the Southeast Regional pre-teen camp of the United Church of God,
an International Association.
Children must be at least 6 years of age and ready to attend 1st grade in
the fall in order to participate in camp and no older than age 11 by September
30th. Children ages 12 and up may apply at one of the many teen camps UCG
offers.
Please consider your child's ability carefully before applying, and assess
weather they can handle sleeping away from you (the parent) in the lodge
for multiple nights. Capable adult counselors will be with your child at all
times.
|
| What are the children’s sleeping arrangements? |
|
The children will be assigned single size bunk style beds in the group lodge. Please
bring a rail if your child falls out of bed. There is only one side a
child can fall out of, and we want to avoid this possibility. There will be at
least two counselors sleeping in the same room. We are requesting that you do
NOT bring sleeping bags, but rather please bring single sheets and blankets for
the purpose of learning to make a bed. We also request that you do not ask that
your child(ren) sleep next to a particular friend or counselor. Part of the
purpose of camp is to encourage new friendships and teach children to get along
with all types of people and personalities.
|
| What housing is available for staff and other parents who may
want to come? |
|
Housing is supplied for FULL TIME staff members only. It is located
approximately 1 mile from the group lodge and is filled to capacity with camp
workers. For the benefit of the children, parents not working at camp need to
stay in Camden and arrange their own accommodations and meals (about 7 miles
away). |
| What do I need to bring? |
| A complete list of what to bring will be sent to you with your
letter of acceptance, health forms and other necessary papers. Please check it
carefully before arrival. |
| Is there a Pre-K service for working parents and if so, what
is the cutoff age? |
| There is no Pre-K service for working parents. Parents will need
to make other arrangements for any children under age 6.
|
| Where will the workers sleep? |
| Some counselors are in the group lodge. Others will share the
modern staff cabins. Staff cabins have four double beds (two in the same room)
and large living rooms. There will be 4 or 5 people on the large living room
floors, so please plan for this (sleeping bag). Some will have beds, but space
will be divided in the best way. It may be necessary to split apart
husband/wife teams to maximize the sleeping space. Each cabin will have up to 8
adults or teens. All workers will be assigned a roommate(s).
|
| What if I can't get my physical before the deadline? |
|
If you submitted a health form last year that includes a physical exam taken in
the last two years (since August of 2006), you will not need a new exam or a
new health form. These forms must be returned by the deadline so the camp
health care staff can make charts for each dorm, even if that means sending the
physician signature page later. The Nurse will make charts in advance that
include important information such as food allergies, whether individuals
require medications, or any other special health considerations for activities.
If you object to physicians, there is a health waiver form that can be filled
out in lieu of the last page of the physical on the health form. If you choose
this option, you MUST STILL send back the first 3 pages and then sign the
wavier in place of page 4, indicating you are aware of the risks associated
with not having a physical examination Please return your health forms to:

What is the Dress Code at camp?
|
|
We follow the same standards as the Teen camps, which include no nose and tongue
piercing. Tasteful one-piece bathing suits for the girls please. Also, we
request no low rider pants where we can see your rear end or belly button.
Please refer to the UCG Teen camp magazine for appropriate dress code if you
have any further questions. You will be asked to change clothing that does not
meet the standards and guidelines. As a general rule, if it opens up any cause
for offense or debate it is better left at home.

| Why is there a cost for workers? Aren’t we providing a
service? |
|
Yes! You are definitely providing a service. It comes down to the question of
what to do – charge campers more and possibly make it out of range for some
families or ask workers to put in a small amount which covers their food and
partial housing expense. Your worker fee covers the cost of 11 meals and 4
nights lodging, as well admittance to the swimming recreation facility we rent.
We are very proud to offer such high quality facilities, food, and learning
experiences for this price. Once you are here, we think you will agree it is a
bargain.
As a reminder -- Please read through all the paperwork you receive carefully.
It is lengthy, but contains a great deal of important information.
